Using a script to create and perform a role {Assessment task}
Drama is all about people and their stories. We are going to work on creating a role.
Choose a script - there are open scripts and books available. You can look for your own but check it's suitability. Put your script on your blog, your device/phone, copy it onto paper, print it out .You need to LEARN the words – start by reading them aloud 10 times.
Role on the Wall - what do you know about your character? Use the questions below to create a picture of your character. You can "draw" a role on the wall OR do short answers to the questions Or a combination. Use your imagination.

Who am I? Eg: I am a 14 year old girl, I feel awkward
and I wear lots of layers of clothes to cover my freckled skin, even at the
beach. I have grown a lot this year and I feel clumsy.. I am shy.
What are my given circumstances {what do I KNOW }?
Eg: This is the first time I have
invited to go anywhere with the other girls. I have just started at a new
school because my family has shifted to Christchurch.
What are my
relationships? Eg: I
am at the beach and I hate the beach because it is cold and windy and sand gets
in your food. I don't know the other people very well. They are in my class at school.
What is my
objective? Why? eg: I want the
others to like me because I need friends.
What must I
overcome? This is the problem that is stopping you from
getting your objective; this is what you need to overcome to reach your goal.
I am shy
and I don’t know what to talk about.
What is my
action? This is what you do to overcome your obstacle
and attempt to reach your goal.
Eg: I
smile a lot and try and copy the way the others talk and move so I fit in
better.
