The Blue Planet Tuning in Week 1 Term 4 Lesson 1

I am away on Tuesday and Wednesday this week so I want you to do this "tuning in work" for The Blue Planet  project. At the end of Term 3 we worked on a multimedia [music/ sound effects/visual] piece around a Shakespeare quote. You will get a chance to finish this next week, if you wish, or you can incorporate multi-media in your new task.

Task 1: The Ocean World

Task 1: Watch the video clip and identify the Drama elements - the FARTTS {Focus/action/time/tension/space}. Write in full sentences.

Example:
The focus of this film clip is to show that lions live in family groups.
The action shows the male lion hunting for the females and the cubs. The lioness keeps the cubs safe and the cubs play fight, learning hunting skills.
The roles are the  male lion, the females and the cubs. There is also the zebra which is chased, caught and eaten.
The time frame is late summer, an early morning hunt which takes about 40 minutes.
The space [location, setting] is the rocky outcrop where the lions live and an open area where the zebra is chased an caught.
Task 2: Look at the website  kaitiakitangaand talk to 2 other people about what you have read, then write an explanation of why you think we should care about the sea. The explanation can be bullet points/ a paragraph/ a poem or pictures with captions.
Task 3: Find a picture [or use one provided] which comments on mankind's relationship with the environment. and make a list of the ways it could be turned into a Drama performance {-think of the elements - FARTTS}
Task 4:  How sound adds to the impact of a performance. Find 2 [or more] songs/instrumental or sound effects tracks which say something about protecting the environment.
